On September 22, 2015 Current in Carmel’s Mark Ambrogi wrote about race car driver Charlie Kimball giving back to his community by supporting Will’s Way at The Urban Chalkboard’s Diabetes Kids Day event.
It’s great for somewhere local like Urban Chalkboard to support a local foundation and give back to the diabetes community,” Kimball said. “Being able to do what I love in race cars to me is a dream come true. At the same time, to have the chance to tell my story and hopefully inspire the next generation, if it’s a racing driver with diabetes, or baseball player or CEO or ballerina. As long as this next generation thinks it can because of what I do in a race car, that’s extremely fulfilling.”
“We are extremely thankful to Charlie Kimball for choosing to spend the day with us at Diabetes Kids Day,” said Lisa Oberndorfer, Executive Director at Will’s Way. “But more importantly, by living his dream; by not letting type 1 diabetes stop him from living his dream, Charlie is living proof that type 1 diabetes does not have to stop you from playing your favorite sport, or going after your desired career. If you manage your type 1 diabetes, and live life with a positive attitude like Charlie, you can do anything!”
