On Thursday, November 21 we hosted our fifth annual Wine, Friends & Giving Back fundraiser. Last year, we raised a little more than $9,000. It was our most successful fundraiser. We were so thankful for each and every attendee, sponsor and donor. It truly was a wonderful event.
Fast forward 365 days. In our wildest dreams, we could never have imagined what happened…..
Messages from Our Board of Directors
A grateful heart is a magnet for miracles” – Anonymous. Our hearts are so full of gratitude this week as we are thankful for the amazing success of our Wine, Friends and Giving Back Fundraiser. We truly believed we were all part of a miracle! The love and generosity was palpable and the results were spectacular! $32,000 raised to help families financially fight their child’s type 1 diabetes. $10,000 of that went directly into our fund a child program which allows us to help not only Julia, our 2019 fund a child, but others who need just a bit more than the average. We extend our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to our sponsors, our attendees, our Board of Directors and our volunteers! Have a blessed Holiday Season and join us in believing in miracles!

I am still smiling thinking of the gratitude I have for the individuals contributing to Diabetes Will’s Way. At my church a few days after the event, we had a sermon about why having a generous heart is such an amazing quality that all people should strive for. I could not help but think of the wonderful people at our event who made love come alive for complete strangers through their giving. It was truly a special night that I feel blessed to have experienced. With each event, I think we help more in the community understand our “why”. To be able to make an impact in helping with this big disease is very humbling. Thank you all!

It is the season of giving and what a privilege it was to witness so many open their hearts and help children with Type 1 at our annual Fundraiser. Our sponsors, our friends, our supporters were generous beyond words and for that we are very grateful.

Every year, I am so completely overwhelmed by the generosity of our community. Ever year, I go into our fundraiser thinking about sponsor logos, email campaigns, posters and the behind the scenes work it takes to host an event. And, each and every year – Lisa talks, Will gives a speech or a Grandmother stands up and says, “This is my grandson, and I love him. Type 1 Diabetes is hard, and he is doing great.” Then, the work fades into the background, and the love found within the walls of the winery wraps around me. No matter how hard I try, my makeup gets ruined. Our donors, supporters, families and recipients are some of the kindest, strongest and generous humans I have ever met. For a single night – we have no differences. We are united for one cause. And, by God – together we can change the world. Continue being the lights in the darkness.

I feel extremely blessed to be a part of an organization doing SO much good for So many deserving struggling families. None of which would be possible without your endless support. It truly takes a village and our supporters have proven to be “our village”. Thank you for your generosity, it does not go Unnoticed or under appreciated. Your support will touch the lives of many type 1 children. And that Is a blessing we all can be thankful for.
