Jill Zaniker, community activist and owner of the Simply Sweet Shoppe located at 30 North Rangeline Road in Carmel, Ind. is partnering with Will’s Way to put to rest type 1 diabetes myths and to raise money for those suffering from the chronic, incurable disease.
“There are two big myths we’d like to dispel,” said Lisa Oberndorfer, CEO at Will’s Way. “While our mission is to relieve the financial burden for underinsured families living with type 1 diabetes, a main goal of ours is to educate the community. A big lesson that even adults should learn is that type 1 diabetes is not caused by eating too many sweets. And, if you are diabetic, it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a sweet treat every once in a while.”
Beginning July 14, when you visit the Simply Sweet Shoppe to purchase a birthday gift or some sweet treat for your next summer party, you’ll be able to purchase a Will’s Way icon for $1. All proceeds will go to fulfilling our mission in improving the quality of life for a family suffering from type 1 diabetes.
